Increasing awareness has made people conscious of their health. This consciousness has also put a question mark on the cleanliness of the water. Water coming in our home taps has hazardous chemicals and impurities, which make it unfit for drinking.  To prevent your family from waterborne diseases, filtering out these impurities is a must. Water Purifiers help cleanses water to make it perfect for drinking. Water purifier for home uses membrane technology followed by disinfection with UV lamp filters.

Types of Water purifiers

1)  RO or Reverse Osmosis-

A permeable membrane known as RO membrane present in RO removes impurities and dissolved solids and filter all unnecessary impurities. RO membrane is like a great thin cloth that can filter all viruses, bacteria, and all poisonous chemicals like metals and pesticides.  RO purifier requires electricity to operate. It also offers pre-filtration in case of dirty water. In this case, it requires electricity to boost the pressure of tap water. RO purifier involves a lot of water as a lot of water is wasted in the purification process. To save water, we can use this wastewater in many ways.

Uses of wastewater

•           Cleaning the house

•           Mopping

•           Giving water to plants

•           Washing car

•           Cleaning utensils

An RO purifier should not only eliminate harmful salts and hard metals but also should retain the natural minerals. A significant drawback of using RO purifiers is a lot of water is wasted in the purification process.

2)  Ultra Violet (UV) Technologies-

UV Water purifier does not remove the hardness of water but effectively remove pathogens and microbes that can cause illness in children. UV purifiers do not waste water and don’t use any chemicals to clean water. They also require less maintenance than RO purifiers.

3) Ultra Filtration (UV) Technologies-

UF membranes have large pores that can eliminate bacteria, virus, and germs. This technology does not require much maintaining and has long-lasting filters. It works without electricity. A drawback of using this technology is it is not appropriate for water with high TDS levels and cannot handle heavy metals.

4)    Activated Carbon-

It is a technology that uses carbon to remove impurities and contaminants by using chemical absorption technique. It is best for eliminating Carbon being porous efficiently remove impurities from water but lacks in removing dissolved solids. It can be used best in the process of removing organic compounds or removing chlorine from water and works better if used with additional purification system. The drawback of using Activated Carbon technology is it cannot remove every contaminant for ex sodium, fluorides, nitrates, etc. It does not soften the hard water.

5)  Water Softeners-

A water softener works by removing the hardness of water by using salt and ion-exchange resins to remove calcium and magnesium. There is also an option of Salt-Free water softener for the people who do not want to add salt or chemicals in their water. Water softeners work best in removing the hardness of water only. But if have other water issues like water chlorination, bacterial contamination or iron staining Water softeners won’t work.

6)  Alkaline Ionizer-

It is a technology that raises the ph balance of water by suing electrolytes to separate the water into acidic and chemical components. Alkaline Ionizer water can be used for cooking and drinking and have many health benefits. It restores ph balance by reducing acidity levels in the body. It helps in neutralizing free radicals that can cause cellular and DNA damage. It also contains anti-ageing properties, weight loss, and support the immune system.  A drawback of Alkaline Ionizer is it can cause gastrointestinal issues and skin irritations

The human body contains up to 60% water in their body. Hence water is indeed essential for life on, in and above the earth. Each day we need to drink sufficient amount of water to live a healthy life. But consuming contaminated water can make you unfit. Hence choosing a water purifier depending on the water quality in your area is a must.

Tips for buying Water purifier online
